The SolarPod Cylinder is engineered specifically to support solar thermal installations, providing efficient hot water storage by capturing and utilising energy generated from solar collectors. Available in twin-coil and triple-coil configurations, SolarPod is designed to operate alongside domestic heating systems, allowing multiple independent heat sources to contribute to hot water generation.

Each SolarPod incorporates a dedicated solar coil manufactured from high-efficiency finned tubing with a large surface area, maximising heat transfer from solar panels into the stored water. Additional coils can be configured to transfer heat from auxiliary sources such as central heating or solid fuel boilers, ensuring reliable hot water availability when solar input is reduced. This flexible, multi-coil design allows SolarPod to make the most of renewable energy while maintaining dependable performance throughout the year.

Storing Solar Energy for Everyday Hot Water

The SolarPod® Cylinder is intended to store and distribute heat generated by solar thermal collectors, allowing renewable energy to be retained and used when hot water is required. By acting as a central thermal store within a solar-led system, SolarPod helps ensure that energy captured during periods of peak solar gain is not wasted, supporting consistent domestic hot water availability.

SolarPod is offered with twin or triple independent coils, enabling solar input to operate alongside additional heat sources within a single cylinder. A dedicated solar coil, formed from high-surface-area finned tubing, transfers heat efficiently from solar panels into the stored water. Secondary coils allow supplementary input from boilers or solid fuel systems, maintaining performance during low solar conditions and providing a balanced, dependable hot water solution throughout the year.

SolarPod® is constructed as a dedicated solar thermal cylinder, designed to prioritise durability, serviceability, and controlled heat input within open-vented systems. Manufactured from Grade 2 copper, it provides a robust storage vessel suited to long-term operation in renewable-led installations, where steady thermal performance matters more than rapid, on-demand delivery.

The cylinder can be supplied with high-recovery boiler coils, allowing auxiliary heat sources to contribute efficiently when solar input is limited, helping to moderate boiler operation rather than drive unnecessary cycling. A dedicated solar coil, fitted with a 22 mm compression connection, simplifies integration with solar collectors, while all pipe connections are designed to project beyond the insulation layer to support clean installation and future access. Together, these details reflect a cylinder designed not just for solar input, but for the realities of installation, maintenance, and hybrid system operation.

Multi-Coil Heat Input Configuration

SolarPod® cylinders are available with boiler, solar, twin, or triple coil configurations, allowing multiple independent heat sources to contribute efficiently to hot water storage.

Boiler Coil

The boiler coil, which (if fitted) is manufactured to BS 1566, can be supplied as high recovery to reduce boiler cycling. Cylinder connection sizes can be specified as: 22mm Compression 28mm Compression

Solar Coil

The high efficiency solar coil is fitted with 22mm Compression Coil With all connections protruding beyond the insulation This makes our twin or triple coil SolarPod one of the most efficient solar panel systems manufactured in the UK.

Twin and Triple Coils​

Our solar cylinders are manufactured with either twin or triple independent coils.

One or two coils are designed to transfer heat from an independent heating source, (eg. transferring heat from a central heating boiler or solid fuel boiler to the water in the solar cylinder) and the solar coil, which is manufactured from high efficiency finned tubes with a large surface area, to transfer heat from the solar panels into the solar hot water cylinder.
